Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criterias for recruitment of Scientific Officers under the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is available below in terms of educational institutions and age limit.
Educational Qualification:
- One must have pursued B.E./B.Tech/B.Sc. (Engineering)/Integrated M.Tech in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, etc, OR, M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc. in Physics, Chemistry, Biosciences, Geology, etc with at least 60% score as aggregate from an University/Institution recognized by the UGC/AICTE.
Age Limit:
- One’s age shouldn’t be below 18 and above 26 years as of August 01, 2025, the upper age relaxation is applicable:
- OBC-NCL: 3 Years
- SC/ST: 5 Years
- PwBD:
- UR: 10 Years
- OBC-NCL: 13 Years
- SC/ST: 15 Years
Passing the GATE in 2023, 2024 or 2025 is an option for the candidate who wants to enroll through the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering. Individuals who have pursued IT, MCA, Environmental Science, etc., are NOT eligible to apply.
Application Fee
In order apply for the BARC Orientation Course for Engineering Graduates and Science Postgraduates 2025, a candidate who belongs to UR or OBC-NCL is required to deposit the application fee of ₹500/- using the debit card, credit card, NET banking or any other provided payment gateway with a required bank charges.
Individuals who belong to SC, ST, Physically Handicapped or Dependent of Defense Personnel Killed in Action are exempted from the payment of the application fee.
Selection Process
The selection process for the BARC Scientific Officers Recruitment 2025 consists of multiple stages, which are Shortlisting and Interview. You may check the details about each stage from the listed points.
- Shortlisting: Candidates are going to be shortlisted on the basis of Online Exam, GATE Score and CGPA score of CEBS/ NISER. Individuals who don’t have passed the GATE 2023, 2024 or 2025; or haven’t pursued Master’s Degree in Physics, Chemistry or Biosciences from MU-CEBS or NISER are required to sit in the Online Exam.
- Interview: Individuals who will be shortlisted on the GATE Score, CGPA score of CEBS/ NISER or Online Exam will be called for the Interview, which will be held in face-to-face mode.
Pay Scale
The pay scale for candidates who will be shortlisted for appointment as Scientific Officers under the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is available below.
During Training:
- OCES TSOs: ₹74,000/month + ₹30,000 book allowance.
- DGFS Fellows: ₹74,000/month + M.Tech tuition fee + ₹60,000/year for project expenses + up to ₹4,00,000 for equipment.
- Accommodation: Free hostel stay (for both).
After Training:
- Job Title: Scientific Officer “C”.
- Salary: ₹56,100/month (Level 10).
- Increments: 2-3 for OCES TSOs, 3-4 for DGFS Fellows.
- Total Pay: Around ₹1,34,000/month with allowances.
- Other Benefits: Travel, education, and health allowances.
