The assignment scores contribute to your final scores, so IGNOU students should check their assignment status to ensure they have completed their assignment obligation on time. If you are wondering how to check the IGNOU assignment status, you are at the right place.

IGNOU Assignment Status

IGNOU allows the students to complete their academic program without being regular or going to college, and the main aspect of the open University system is the assignments in each class. The assignments are a part of the IGNOU system to assess the student’s knowledge and learning from online resources and classes.

In every session, the students have to submit the assignment before the term-end examination. The University has declared the June 2025 TEE exam, the candidates from the programs under the yearly system will have to submit their assignments before March 2025, as well as students from programs under the semester system.

Students who have submitted their assignments should check their assignment status to ensure it is accepted before the exam. The students can check the IGNOU assignment status in the following steps:

  • You should go to the official Website of IGNOU at https://www.ignou.ac.in/
  • Next, you should go to the Student Services tab and go to the IGNOU Assignment portal at https://isms.ignou.ac.in/changeadmdata/StatusAssignment.asp
  • Next, you should enter your enrollment number and program code on the portal.
  • Once you click the submit button, your IGNOU assignment status will appear on your screen.

Details mentioned in the IGNOU Assignment Status

The IGNOU students can find their course, session, assignment submission date, and evaluation status on the Assignment status. The students can find the following status with assignment status:

  • Received: Your assignment has been received, and officials are yet to evaluate the assignment.
  • Under Evaluation: The submitted assignment is under evaluation by the officials.
  • Complete Evaluating: The submitted assignment evaluation is completed, and the officials have updated the marks on the portal.
  • Not Received: The assignment has not yet been received at the study center, and hence, the system does not have any update on the assignment.

What should you do if your assignment status is not updated or shows not received status?

Students enrolled in IGNOU courses and submitted their assignments before the term-end examination should always check their assignment status to ensure it is updated and their assignment marks will add to their final marks. However, if the status is not updated or shows not received when you have submitted, then you should take the following action:

  • You should wait a few more days after you submit the assignment, as the system may take time to process the assignment submissions.
  • You should contact your regional IGNOU office to submit your query about assignment status not being updated about what happened when you submitted the assignment, but it is still not received.
  • You should have your IGNOU assignment submission slip or proof to submit your query about the assignment.

IGNOU Assignment Weightage and Evaluation

IGNOU assignments are an integral part of the system as they play an important role in the final grades and help the students perform well. The students should know the assignment has a 30% weightage in your exams, so do ensure you submit it on time.

The 70% weightage is from the term-end examination, and the students have to pass both components separately to clear their final examination. The officials generally take 4 weeks to evaluate the assignment, and they update the assignment marks on the Grade Card.

Students can check their Assignment scores and percentages on their course grade card, which they download after the term-end examination. If the student fails an assignment assessment, they can re-submit the assignment in the next session.

The IGNOU students must ensure they submit the assignment for their respective courses before the deadline so that their final grades include the assignment marks. To ensure the IGNOU system has received the assignment, you must check the assignment status on the portal.
